My life is a horror movie

Yesterday I subbed for my firstborn's art classes, where the lesson plans involved mummifying Barbies, and drawing "Scream." I kinda expected some bad dreams, but what happened this morning--BEFORE COFFEE--was worse.

It was particularly cold last night, and besides the flannel sheets I put on the bed, I dug deep in my pajamas for the fuzzy fleece set that my dear daughter of the heart Julia had given me a couple of years ago. I look like I skinned a Muppet when I wear them, but I don't care because I am warm. I also found a pair of Christmas striped socks in similar fabric. Glamorous, I was not.

But, even warm and snugly finally has to get out of bed sometime.

I walked to the coffee pot, and began the morning ritual. I felt something flutter on my face, and assumed another stray hair was tickling my nose.

Wait. That looks like a fruit fly...

As I took a swing at it, I realize that it's a tiny spider on a line, dropping toward the ground. When did I walk through a web...

I raised both arms to smash it, and that's when I saw them. An entire spider brigade, dropping off my arm like soldiers from a helicopter. DOZENS of them!

Apparently my fuzzy pajamas were also host to a spider egg. The science teacher in me should have been fascinated.

Instead, what I did was strip all my clothes right there in the kitchen floor, and run jump in the shower and scrub every inch of my body. Twice.

Now, I am writing this blog post to let my heart rate return to normal, and then it's back in the kitchen I go...wearing my stomping shoes.

There are not enough full body shudders in the world.
